Maybe I’m wrong.. I dunno, where’s whooami when ya need her lmao!! =P I *hope* this is what you’re trying to figure out.. =P
*ADDED* If you want, and can use a gmail setup for the blog, just use this and use your gmail user and pass and you’re good to go!! The port number is already set for the: pop.gmail.com setting. This is right from my blog..
Mail server: pop.gmail.com Port:995
Login name: Your’s of course
Password: Your’s of course
Then hit the Update Options button.
That should work for you too. =)

Are you sure your smtp/pop3 addresses are correct and the user and password for it is correct? Just was curious..
(This is within the blog) I’m not sure if that’s what you’re really refering to though.. I’m at a lost to Yahoo at the moment sigh.
Options => Writing
Example only, possibly not real:
Mail server: pop.yahoo.com Port:995 <-whatever number yahoo uses.
Login name: Your’s of course
Password: Your’s of course
Then hit the Update Options button.
It took me a little while to figure it all out..when I first started using WordPress sigh.. =/

I’m not positive, but I use Gmail for my blog, and just use the pop.gmail.com and it sends and so forth, without even worrying about the smtp settings in the blog.. so maybe just try the “pop3” settings once and make sure everything on yahoo.com’s email side is correct too..
