I am creating a new site and installed the current version of Site Origin Widgets bundle Version 1.11.4, Page Builder – Version 2.6.2.
I created an empty page, put in one row and added the contact form widget.
I left it at the default settings. I checked and the Subject field is checked as Required.
All the default fields are required – Name, Email, Subject and Message.
On creating the page without filling in any fields I clicked the “submit” button.
Each field except Subject gets an error message.
If I fill in all the fields except Subject and click Submit the form is submitted without having to enter a subject.

    Hi Cyberdave,

Unfortunately, I can’t seem to replicate this. ??
For reference, here’s a screenshot of what I see after clicking submit.

Just to confirm we’re working with the same setup would it be possible for you to send me an export for this widget? To do this please open up the linked page in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.

    Ok!

Do I need an invite code to sign up for teknik.io ?

I uploaded it without needing a login (but can you send me an invite, is there a PM function here?! thanks!).

Let me know what you find, thanks!

    Hi Cyberdave,

This is happening because you created a default subject. This setting overrides the required option for the Subject field due to there being a default in place.

Ok I looked again and tried it without the default subject and I see what you mean.
I think I found it confusing because the description of the default subject is a subject to use when there isn’t one available and so I filled it in.
I don’t know if it’s possible or worthwhile/desirable in that case to by default uncheck the Subject being required if the default subject is filled in….

Anyway so far I like this contact form and how it can be configured much better than the one that comes with WPForms lite.

    Thanks!
