[Plugin: Contact Form 7] Send two different messages?

THIS HAS BEEN RESOLVED. IT APPEARS THAT CONTACT FORM 7 DID SEND BOTH MESSAGES, BUT ONE OF THEM TOOK A LOT LONGER TO ARRIVE.
I want to send a confirmation e-mail to the person who filled out the contact form (they enter their e-mail address into the form). I want this e-mail to be different from the e-mail that we receive from the form (I want it to say something like “Thank you for filling out the form”).
It appears that the “Mail (2)” area overrides the “Mail” area — it will only send to one or the other (depending on whether the “use mail 2” checkbox is checked) but not both. Is this by design? If so, are there any plans to allow it to send two different e-mails out? A lot of our users miss the message that tells them that the form was submitted, and we get a lot of separate e-mails asking if we received the form.
