• Last night we lost our contact form 7 plug-in. When I went into the WP dashboard it advised that the plug-in failed due to a “missing header”. The plug-in is no longer a selection in the WP plug-ins page but the directory apparently still exists. When I tried to re-install the plug-in but that failed also advising that the directory was still there. I searched the plug-in site and found nothing as well as in this forum except that the header contains the information WP needs to recognize it. We believe that it is due to either the recent WP upgrade to 3.3 or the actual last contact form 7 upgrade to 3.0.2.1. This also has impacted our MailChimp sign up so we really need fast resolution if at all possible. Thanks!!!

  • have you tried deleting the contact form 7 folder from /plugins?
    do that and install again

I thought about doing that but I do not have access to our WP host site server. I guess I will either need to contact our host, Page.ly, or will need to sign up for FTP access to do this. Either way if the header information is messed up in the latest Contact Form 7 upgrade it may fail again right? The sequence of events leading up to the plug-in failure as best as I can recall is that we upgraded the plug-ins one of which was the Contact Form 7 one to 3.0.2.1. Then a day later we upgrade the WP site to 3.3. Then a day or so after that I noticed we had not upgrade the seven eleven theme and did that last night (we do not sue the seven eleven theme so ther was no php or css re-coding needed). Then apparently either around the same time as the last step or possibly later in the evening the plug-in failed with the error message about the “missing header”. Let me know if you see anything else that may apply before I go the the site host about it. Thank you so much for the quick reply today!

I looked at the latest release of the plugin and the headers are there and correct, so…should work if folder is gone

Samuel, thank you so much for taking the time to look at the plug-in and for your time today. I will make sure I can get into our server and remove the folder then see if we can get it working again. However I will keep this issue open for now but will close it out as resolved and be sure to post the end result in case anyone else may need the help as well. Hope you have a great New Year!
