It also doesn’t work on the WordPress comments box.

    Hi Gail,

Sorry about the issues. As I say in all of these threads these are difficult to test.

The first thing you can do is turn on debug mode in the settings section of the plugin. Once debug mode is enabled, try subscribing again and then go to the debug page again. Is there an error? If so, please copy it here.

The second thing you can do is to check your form in MailChimp. Are you requiring any of the fields? If so, that could be an issue. In integrations we only send the email address over, so if any fields are required the submission will be rejected by MailChimp because some required fields are missing.

A third way to test this issue is to create a standard form and add the shortcode to a test page or somewhere private on your site. Try subscribing via this form. Does it work? If so, then your site can connect to and communicate with MailChimp fine and we know the issue is specifically with the integration request.

A fourth way to test this is to create a brand new MailChimp list with only the standard MailChimp fields (I believe it’s just the email address field by default). Try connecting this list to your checkbox integration. If the subscription works with this list, then we know the issue is specifically with the other list.

Again – sorry for the issue,
    Kevin.

    Hi Gail,

If a regular form on a page isn’t working, then there is an issue with your site communicating with MailChimp. It may be the case that MailChimp has flagged your web host’s server as spam and is blocking communication between it and the API. You should get in touch with MailChimp or your hosting company and ask them if your IP is blocked.

We are working on a way to test a site’s connection to MailChip to determine if they are blocking your IP. I don’t have an exact date on when that will come out, but this problem pops up often enough that we feel this would be helpful for our users.

    Thank you,
    -Tracy

    Hi,

My integration also is not working well…
I have followed the tests above, the only required field is email, the standard form worked perfectly, the api key is working as it shows is connected, it gets lists names. Also tried creating interests group, it gets the group name too but didn’t work.
I have created another list, emptied cache and re-configured using new list, but didn’t work.
Tried creating a new api key, but also didn’t solve.

It seems the send action button from the form is not triggering the checkbox opt-in as the debug page doesn’t show any action, it only shows it doesn’t find an interest group when it didn’t have the group.

Any ideas? Any update needed on plugin?

    Thanks,
    Pedro.

    Hello Pedro,

I’ve just tested the CF7 integration and it’s working properly on my end. One thing about the Contact Form 7 integration is that it uses double opt-in. Have you tried to subscribe with an email address you have access to? The subscription would need to be confirmed before it shows up on your list.

Let me know whether that could be the issue.

    Cheers,
    Kevin.

    Thanks Kevin,

It works now…. I didn’t know it was double opt-in, I was testing with a non-existing email, as I was receiving the message from the form didn’t think about the confirmation email.

Also, my Mailchimp list configuration, the double opt-in setup is disabled, that also lead to my mistake.

Maybe this info should be clear on integration instructions, will save time for rookies like me… ??

    Thanks again,
    Pedro.

    Agh, that makes sense.

I definitely think we should make a note of this in the instructions somewhere – you are not the first person to be confused by it.

I will add a ticket for that.

    Cheers,
    Kevin.

I may just be really dumb, but after installing the extension and sending a test Subscription with my other email the form said the message was sent successfully. However, on my Mail Chimp side I see no new subscribers. This is my first time with a subscription list so may be missing something really simple. It connected to the API fine, and I believe everything on the back end is set up properly. It gave the correct notification. It just seemed to not sent to Mail Chimp.

    Hi @chased702,

All of our integrations are double opt-in by default. Did you check if the email account you used received a double opt-in confirmation email? This is the most likely scenario.

    Thanks!
    Kevin.

It looks like I was never sent the confirmation email. So issue is probably in my setup? Only have about the last 15 minutes of research worth of knowledge on how the contact list works so, like I said, probably simple mistakes. But I thought I followed the instructions correctly so not sure where I missed something.

The debugger says “nothing here yet” so I guess it’s not linked properly.

Can you send me the URL to your contact form? I still think it could be a double opt-in issue.

Have you tried to subscribe to this list with that email before? Have you deleted that email from the list before? Do you have a different email address you could use?

Ah-HA! Stupid mistake as suspected. I had the incorrect Email and Name tags. It seems to be working now. However, it didn’t send a confirmation email to either of the emails I used. But both are showing up on MailChimp now so I don’t know. That’s the important part! Thanks for your patients ??
