    GET /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=rest-nonce 400 (Bad Request) VM166:1
    Response?{type: “basic”, url: “/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=rest-nonce”, redirected: false, status: 400, ok: false,?…}

    Where can we see the website in question?

    Here’s a page that illustrates the problem when using Chrome or Edge. https://www.theformtool.com/theformtool-free/

    Could you please advise of the solution to this issue. It is something I’ve flagged previously myself. Using the previous version of CF7, absolutely no issues at all. After upgrading to version 5.4, I get the spinner issue and form doesn’t submit. If I clear cache it works for a little while and then fails again. Happens on over 80 sites of varying plugins and setups… all custom themes and some purchased themes. If I revert back to previous version of CF7 without making a single other change… all sites work fine again.
    Like you, I desperately need to know the solution so that I can update the CF7 plugin without issues going forwards?

    It comes down to: Why upgrade? Why cause yourself issues? Roll back to 5.2.1, write a review explaining what you’ve done and assigning an appropriate score. Then go on to better days.

    If the developer doesn’t care enough to even address all the complaints, why should you?

    What exactly is the benefit you achieve by upgrading?

    By the way, WP Rollback really is pretty interesting; no fuss, no mess.

    Yep, But I have a strategy to maintain latest versions of plugins where possible for any number of reasons from security to stability etc etc. If a new version is available, it assumably comes with refinements and improvements. It’s frustrating to not be able to upgrade with stability. I run ManageWP and Wordfence Central monitoring and am constantly dealing with a large number of plugin updates required and would like to clear that up pronto. This spinner issue with CF7 has been prevalent since launch of the latest version over a month ago. I’m yet to see an update to the plugin to resolve it, and continuously read responses to “advise of other plugins in the site”.
    It is clearing an issue, most likely related to caching and needs a resolution… urgently.

    im not using caching and have the same/similar problem…

    Try switching to the default theme, deactivating all plugins excluding Contact Form 7, and clearing all cache data.

    Why you are advised to deactivate plugins and switch to the default theme.

    I think there is another issue here. Since the most recent update this has been hapening a lot with multiple websites, different themes etc. Please review your code as the common denominator comes down to it being an issue with CF7

    Yes I tried to use the default theme, but as you see many others than me are having the same problem.

    There must be a problem with Contact form 7.

    Hello @takayukister . I just wanted to echo what several others have reported with version 5.4. Our agency has approximately 500 sites running contact form 7 and have for many years. Around 40 of them were updated to 5.4 and began experiencing intermittent submission issues as described above. As @c4concepts pointed out, clearing the cache in our case also resolves the problem temporarily for those 40 sites but returns within 24 hours (sites running on wp engine with wp rocket and Cloudflare). We have rolled back those sites to previous versions of contact form 7 and everything is submitting okay as of now. Will hold off for a patch or communication before updating again.
