    Hi guys,

Latest version of Contact Form 7 (5.4) seems to have broken some stuff around… including stopping to work with “Aggregate JS-files?” enabled.

Would you be able to check it out? Maybe you would have a suggestion for a solution or maybe advise what to put in “Exclude scripts from Autoptimize:” as a “fix”?

    Regards

No sure since when it is the default ?? As I don’t have it on any of the websites I use Autoptimize on :-/ Have to update all of them then.

well, defaults only work when installing AO the first time, if you’re running AO for a long time already it is entirely possible it was not excluded by default at that time .. :-/

shouldn’t there be a way of auto-updating the “default” list when plugin gets updated, or would that be too big of an issue for you?

OR would the re-installation (deleting and adding again) of the plugin update the default list?

pretty risky, as at that point I would be changing configuration of live sites, possibly without people knowing/ testing, whereas defaults now are a starting-point when people enable AO and thus test.

yes, then you would see defaults, but you would loose all your other settings too?

How about to “add defaults by default”, I mean… within the plugin code, not visible in settings at all, and just add a field to add extra exclusions by people if needed?

    Thread Starter Kramarz

    (@kramarz)

Obviously if you are adding something by default, that means it should be there? Or is it still optional?

    Plugin Author Optimizing Matters

    (@optimizingmatters)

still optional indeed; people who don’t use block-related stuff might not need js/dist excluded, tinkerers might be able to get it working without the exclusion too.

ok then, off to update all the websites with exclusion of wp-includes/js/dist/ then ??

I have had to disable Autoptimize completely on outofoffice.com to get Contact Form 7 to work.

Same, unfortunately… excluding wp-includes/js/dist/ was not enough.

I would assume just disabling “optimize JS” or “aggregate JS” would make it work as well?

Yeah, in some cases it has to be wp-includes/js/ apperantly, see if that works (and if not; what JS errors do you see on the console)?

I think it could even not be connected to your plugin mate, seems CF7 uses NONCE in some weird way, that it gets cached and breaks the form.

I was using AO + Comet Cache or Rapid Cache on many sites, and even setting Cache Expire in Comet Cache to 10 hours does not help…

ah, nonce’s, indeed that’s page caching territory, setting cache validity to 4h or so should fix that (although clearly that makes caching less efficient) ..

all in all; looks like it’s time someone built a simple contact form that does not (overly) rely on JavaScript, no? :-/
