I just installed Easy Forms for MailChimp specifically for the integration with Contact Form 7. The checkbox appears on the contact form but the opt-in process does not initiate. My MailChimp list and my Contact Form both use firstname and lastname, but the Easy Forms documentation shows only a name field in the example. Will Easy Forms support firstname and lastname? Thanks, Bill.

    Hello @billmccart,

In your contact form, is your email field named ‘your-email’? This is required for the integration.

In terms of firstname/lastname, the plugin by default does not send these variables over to MailChimp; it will only send the email. However, there is a filter, yikes-mailchimp-contact-form-7, that can be used to send variables from your Contact Form to MailChimp.

If we can get the integration working, I can help walk you through using the filter to send MailChimp the firstname/lastname.

    Let me know,
    Kevin.

Yes, the email field is correctly named “your-email”. I wasn’t aware that only the email is sent by default. It would have been helpful if this was stated in the documentation. But it’s still not working; nothing is showing up in my list. Thanks for the quick reply.

    Bill,

Could you post the URL to the page with your contact form?

    Thanks,
    Kevin.

    It’s here: https://lightbodyengineering.com/contact/

I previously took it out because it wasn’t working and didn’t want to lose signups. I put it back so you can look at it but please let me know soon so I don’t lose more signups.

    Thanks!

You can remove the contact form now; I’ve seen it and tested. I’m experiencing the same results as you: it’s not working.

Testing these integrations is difficult and there’s not much else I can do from here.

If you’d like me to try some more advanced troubleshooting techniques, you can email me at [email protected].

    Sorry about that,
    Kevin.

Thanks for trying; I appreciate it. Before we go further, I’d like to confirm that it will be possible for us to pull firstname and lastname from the contact form, along with email, and put that into my MailChimp list. I haven’t looked at the filter you referred to earlier, but that’s what it would have to do. If you can give me a firm yes to that I will gladly take you up on your offer to contact you at your Yikes address for further investigation of the integration issue. Thanks.

    Bill,

I am going to create a form in a local environment that matches your form and confirm I can capture first name, last name, and email. If that goes as planned, I can give you a firm yes. It will require: (1) debugging the plugin in your dashboard to get subscriptions working, and (2) adding a function to your theme’s functions.php file that supplies the first and last name fields.

It’s not too much work, but it’s not ‘plug and play.’ If you have other options, feel free to explore them.

I’ll test out first/last name. Let me know if you’d like to continue,
    Kevin.

I was able to use our filter and add first name and last name to my MailChimp subscription. Let me know.

    Hi,

I’m closing this out here, because it’s being worked on offline.

    Thank you!
