• one and half years ago i have developed my website using wordpress and i have used contact form 7 plugin to set up the contact us page and it has been working fine since the last two months now it fails to send mails to the configured mail. what i mean is when i try to send a mail from the page it displays a message that says “Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method.” which is with red border. i don’t know the reason why? i have referred different forums and accordingly i have tried to configure the contact form 7 setting differently but it doesn’t work yet. once again i have contacted someone from the hosting server and asked about the problem and told me that the “issue could be with the plugin configuration. You can also contact plugin vendor for further assistance”. so i am urgently seeking your help anyone who come across that before please help me to fix that.

    thanks in advance !!

  • Though the plugin successfully sends millions of emails every day, there are a host of issues that can stop or delay emails on both the sending and receiving ends. It depends entirely on your local Server & WordPress configuration. You will need to investigate this issue for your particular local configuration.

    See Contact Form 7 Email Issues. There is a link at the bottom of the page to a comprehensive and detailed article which covers many issues. Most people that work through this information appear to be able to resolve their email sending & receiving issues.

    Also see I get an error message with a red border. So, how can I solve this?

    If you find you need more detailed advice, after reading and working through the above links, please include a link to your Contact Form 7 form plus all your input in the Form and Mail sections of the CF7 interface. This should allow others to understand your actual problem and offer a possible solution.

    I was having issues with my clients form though i have now resolved this after some contact with hosting.

    Here is my advice:
    If you are experiencing issues with a an email address with the same domain as your website e.g [email protected] https://www.mydomain.com, install the WP-SMTP plugin and select the smtp settings, making sure you enter your correct smtp host and port number.
    If you are still not receiving emails from your contact form after setting this up, then I would advise to contact both support for your web hosting and your email hosting.

    After using livechat to contact my clients web hosting (Hostgator), they whitelisted the ip address, so that the firewall was not blockig smtp. It wasn’t until i contacted the email hosting at Fusemail, i finally got to the root of the issue. The email hosting had not authorised the ip address of the clients website, where the mail was coming from. After support authorised this, my contact form now works perfectly.

    Hope this helps to anyone also experiencing issues. As simple as contacting hosting for both your website and email hosting.

    @kpkreative

    The email hosting had not authorised the ip address of the clients website, where the mail was coming from.

    It’s called SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and any admin who wants to send email from a custom domain should do it.

    However, what he posted is unrelated to your immediate issue. The red error means your mail server has rejected the email attempt. You can install Postman SMTP and check the email log to find out why.

    See the CF7 FAQ I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE WITH A RED BORDER. SO, HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS?
