  • I am not longer getting emails sent to me.

It wa working fine until the update

    Everything was working fine.

What can I do to make it work

thewordsaves – You need to set fields as required to have them be validated by the scripts

oursweetworldof – this post is for another topic, can you open your own support thread and we can try and find the solution for you.

Yes, all of the fields are set as “required”, that is why I am perplexed. Script appears not to be working as I can repeatedly submit empty forms and I get the standard, “Thanks, your message has been submitted” message.

    [text* text-826 placeholder “First Name”]

    [text* City placeholder “City”]

Is there something wrong with the syntax?

    Thanks for your response!

Could you test with the default form that gets created when you “add new”? and then if it is still not validating then the next step in troubleshooting is to temporarily disable other plugins and revert to a wordpress core theme (ie. twentyfifteen). This will allow you to see if there are any adverse interactions that would cause Contact Form 7 to not function entirely correct.

If the plugins and the theme switch allow it to work then the fun begins:
Starting with the them first switch back to the one you want to use going forward. Test
If continues to work then – Activate 1-2 plugins at a time between test submissions.

@aaron Cohrs – great support! Your responses to others’ questions are spot on.

@buzztone Thanks, have used Contact Form 7 with all my WordPress installs and decided if I can’t support it monetarily I can lend a hand in support. I appreciate the level of commitment to this plugin and the level of support it has and if this small part can help then I’m more than happy to help out.

Yes, perfect suggestion! Thank you! Why didn’t I think to check the default? Well that worked so I used that syntax to revise the form and now validation works. But why doesn’t it work when I create the tags using the contact forms interface? In other words, when I click on the buttons in the visual interface to create the tags? Curious…
