Contact Form 7 disppeared after update to wordpres 6.2.2

    We have a slide out with contact form. It is activated by clicking on the top bar. The slide out used to contain the complete contact form and now only the intro shows. We are using WordPress 6.2, Contact Form 7 5.7.7. The form we are trying to include is as follows:

    [text* first-name placeholder “First Name”]

    [text* last-name placeholder “Last Name”]

    [email* email placeholder “Email”]

    [text telephone placeholder "Telephone"]

    We are using a custom theme based on WP Bootstrap Starter that has had no changes recently. The form just broke with the update. Another form on our site works fine.

    But I’ve used all these plugins before the WordPress upgrade and everything was working for years.Seems to me like something with the upgrade not the plugins.

    Try switching to the default theme, deactivating all plugins excluding Contact Form 7 and Askimet, and clearing all cache data.

    Why you are advised to deactivate plugins and switch to the default theme.

    Kind of like the cable company telling you to re-boot the router.

    Since this wasn’t practical I went in and removed the <label></label> tag from the first item in the form and everything started working again. Not sure why this is the case but perhaps it will help someone else.
