Contact Form 7 Checkbox and Interest Groups

Is your checkbox working with Contact Form 7? I added it via:

[yikes_mailchimp_checkbox label=”Sign up for our newsletter!”]

Once a form has been filled out and “submit” has been hit, it just hangs.

Gogela- I have not tested the checkbox yet, I’m using another plugin to manage the checkbox until I sort out how to add groupings to this one.

Ah. OK. I wonder what’s wrong… I found out that despite the “hanging” the e-mail goes out from CF7, but there’s no confirmation, and the e-mail address isn’t added to the MailChimp list/group. What plugin are you using that works, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thank you for the kind words re: the rewrite.

There is no way at the moment to pre-select an interest group with the checkbox integrations, however, I’ll let Evan answer the question about a filter.

He’s written hooks and filters for just about everything in the plugin so there may be one to help you accomplish what you what to do.

Are you saying that the checkbox integration for contact form 7 is not working as intended??

I am going to some testing with contact form 7, and see what I can do about providing a solution for you to pre-check an interest group when submitting through contact form 7.

Correct. I’ve tested it on a few sites… when the checkbox is there the form will appear to hang and not post a confirmation. The mail is sent and reciprocal messages go out if there are any, so CF7 is working up until the confirmation div is activated, but from the user’s point of view it just hangs. The e-mail address is not added to the MailChimp list. Thanks for looking into this.

I have a feeling the reason data isn’t being transferred over to MailChimp is because on the list you have users signing up to has a required field assigned to it.

How many fields does the list you are assigning users to have? It could very well be the interest group that is causing the issues for you.

Are you able to test with two fields, email and first name?

After taking a closer look, it does look like the Contact Form 7 checkbox integration isn’t working as expected. Something may have changed in one of our functions.

The checkbox will show up, but it will indeed just hang there and I believe that’s because it’s not properly passing in the email address to the subscription function.

I am going to work on this issue, and get it in working order – and push out an update, including a working filter to properly populate an interest group or any other field you see necessary.

I will post back here after I get everything resolved and get a 6.0.2 release out there to patch things up.

Well, the good news is that you could replicate the problem! I’ll look forward to the next iteration of your plugin, than, and use something else in the interim. I do like the UI of yours though, so good luck to you.

From reading the above comments, I think you are onto the fact that when you hit send on the contact form – the confirmation message that it was sent successfully does not appear!! Instead a blank box appears with a green outline….

To answer your question, I’m using Mailchimp for WordPress (ibericode) for the checkbox. It works fine, but lacks many of the features overall that Evan’s plugin has, hence why I’ve switched over. It should work for you in the meantime though.

To keep you guys posted, I believe that I have a working method for the issue above. In the new patch there will be a simple way to pre-check existing interest groups for a list from the current ‘Integration Settings’ section on the options page.

I have things working properly for the contact form 7 integration, but want to put all of our integrations through some testing before releasing the patch.

Thanks Evan – looking forward to hearing from you. Just a quick question – would I need to install the plug-in all over again and set up the code again?? Or will it be a case of adding in some code to get the confirmation appearing correctly??

After Evan pushes out the plugin update you will just see an update notice in your WordPress dashboard. Just click the update button for our plugin and you’ll be all set!
