We had checked that after the updates of the Contact Form 7 plugins on 5/Dec/2016, our website can’t be loaded and showed “HTTP 500 Error”. After I had removed the contact-form-7 folder in the server, the content can be loaded. But when I activated it back, it showed “HTTP 500 Error” again.
Any suggestions to solve this issue?
    Thanks.

What other plugins and theme do you use? Where can we see the site?

OK. Try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme. If you don’t want to bother doing this, check the PHP error logs and figure out what causes the error.

Hi, in my case the problem is not specifically with Contact Form 7, the plugin Contact Form 7 _Calendar_ is causing the website not to load.

Best solution is to de-install. (get your site up by renaming the “cf7-calendar” folder through ftp (wpcontent/plugins), Login, and Contact Form 7 can be activated.)
Now enter C.F.7 settings, opene your form, and replace the Date line for the internal field that is available since 2014. [date field-name]

Note, the external plugin which is not working and crashes your site (but was rather beautiful and functional) has been discontinued, not updated, for over 4 years now.

good luck to anyone who’s been searching for this info. Could not find it anywhere myself. -blauwe

I have the same issue, unable to update contact 7 form without crashing the site with an interal server issue.
Any solution found on this matter?

    Hi Guys,

We have similar issue we get this error “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)”. Could you please assist us?

So far in terms of troubleshooting (WP version 4.7.5):
    1. Deactivated all other plugins and try the submit button — didn’t work
    2. Contact GoDaddy our server host — other emails go through the service from other plugins s didn’t work as well
    3. Change fields settings –didn’t work

    Thanks,

I’m getting this now with a clean install of WordPress and just this plugin.
Wordpress version is 4.8.1 and the plugin version 7.4.8.1
As a newbie, I would appreciate any pointers.

I was getting this error as well and the below plugin was the culprit.
