Contact Form 7 – Can't tell if a file has been added/uploaded

This problem applies to uploading files via Contact Form 7.
When a user clicks “Browse” and selects a file to upload, the file is uploaded and sent correctly with the form, BUT there is no visible confirmation that the file has uploaded. The screen remains the same.
The only way to know if the file was uploaded is to hover over the blank area next to the Brose button. The file name will show in a pop-up.
We are using twenty sixteen theme.
