I have just added a page to my site and added the contact form so that people can attach files to be uploaded & send to me.

I am having difficulty with adding the field for attachments as it does not seem to come up in the drop down menu when creating the contact form.

Does anyone have a solution or suggestion to this issue.

    Thank you,
    Vito

Hi Vito! Jetpack’s contact form does not include an option for users to upload files. You can see some previous discussion on the topic here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/450

If this is a requirement for your site, you may want to look into using another contact form plugin. I hope this helps clear things up!

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the information, I hadn’t realized that it was not part of Jetpack as Jetpack is a really good Plug-in and usually it has all kinds of features.

    Perhaps on an up-coming update?

    Thank you,

Thanks for the kind words, Vito! I’m afraid that we won’t be adding this functionality any time soon. The major blocker is explained in George’s comment on the GitHub Issue linked above:

Any upload submission parsing would need an incredible amount of file validation to ensure malicious stuff isn’t uploaded, and especially that it isn’t web accessible without approval from site admins.

Allowing users to upload files can be dangerous, so it isn’t an insignificant effort to add such functionality. Instead, I’d recommend looking at other contact form plugins. I’ve personally used Gravity Forms and Contact Form 7 in the past, both of which allow users to upload files:
    https://www.gravityforms.com/
    https://contactform7.com/

    Thanks for the feedback!
