• Jetpack Version 3.1.1
My site title is something like this: Church Men’s Choir.
Using the Jetpack contact form the email subject was junk. So I removed the apostrophe from my site title and the problem was solved. However I now have a problem with the apostrophe police unless I make my site title Church Choir of Men.
    Cheers, Greg.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you copy the email subject, and paste it here so I can take a look? Could you also let me know your site URL? I tried to reproduce the problem on a test site of mine, and the Email subject included the apostrophe.

    Thanks!

    Hello Jeremy.
I’ve set up a demo site here: https://www.demo.angeles-hill.com/
The site title is St Michael’s Men’s Choir.

Here’s the shortcode generated for the contact form:
    [contact-form subject='[St Michael%26#039;s Men%26#039;s Choir’][contact-field label='Name' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='Email' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='Comment' type='textarea' required='1'/][/contact-form]

When I receive the email, the subject is:
    ’[St

Please let me know if you need anything else.
    Cheers, Greg.

    Greg,

Thanks for the extra details! I gave it a try as well, and I believe the problem is caused by the extra [ you added to the beginning of the Email subject. You won’t be able to use square brackets in shortcode elements, whether the shortcode is handled by Jetpack or another plugin.

If you remove the square bracket from the subject line, the email looks fine:

Could you give it a try?

    Thanks!

    Hello Jeremy.
Yes, manually removing the [ in the shortcode resolves the immediate problem, but I didn’t add the extra [ – it was generated by JetPack. All I did was click the Add Contact Form button in the designer. I’ve just verified that was the case by removing the entire shortcode and clicking the Add Contact Form button again. Sure enough, the extra [ reappears.

    Cheers, Greg.

Thanks for the extra details. I was able to reproduce the issue. We’ll get this fixed in a future version of Jetpack. You can follow our progress here:

    Thanks again for the report!
