Consistent error while connecting/reconnecting

While trying to troubleshoot another Jetpack problem, I disconnected Jetpack from my WordPress.com account and then reconnected.
I then saw an error message “We had trouble connecting. Try again,” which included a this status message “transport error – HTTP status code was not 200 (502)”.
When I clicked “Try again,” Jetpack appeared to successfully connect, and I was returned to the Jetpack settings page on my site, which displayed this message: “Your Jetpack is already connected.”
I repeated those steps, and got the same result.
