    Issue:
Cookieyes is overwriting default consent state and setting all consent levels to “denied”.

    Implementation:
I have a basis plan at Cookieyes and have implemented the banner through GTM. Everything is working correctly and I know 100% that everything is set up correctly. However, Cookieyes is sending a cookie_consent_update event before having interacted with the banner. It overwrites the default and causes error in the tracking. I have no idea why it does this and how to prevent it. The default consent levels are set in the Cookieyes CMP Template, but somehow it is being overwritten.

    Expected behavior:
I expect that the cookie_consent_update is only being sent at the moment that the consent has been given, or on subsequent pages. I do not expect a cookie_consent_update to overwrite my default consent.

    Hi @gnimble,

    Greetings from CookieYes!

We wanted to clarify that the “Default consent settings” you’ve configured for your website act as the initial settings until the CookieYes banner loads on your site. These settings essentially serve as a fallback or default state in case there’s any delay in the banner’s appearance. If, for any reason, the banner doesn’t load promptly, the Default Consent Settings will be applied.

It’s important to note that once the CookieYes banner successfully loads on your website, the default states configured within the banner will take precedence. The user’s interaction with the banner, such as providing consent or adjusting preferences, will then determine the final consent states applied to the cookies on your site.

We hope this explanation clarifies how the default consent settings function. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Hi, can’t I modify these default settings that are set by cookieyes its banner? Or is this a given setting that everything is denied by default and there’s no way around that?

    Hi @gnimble,

To load the cookies before consent, you can enable the option “Load cookies prior to consent” for any category by navigating to Cookie Manager > Cookie List > Edit Category. Enabling this option will affect the compliance of your site.
