• I’m not sure if this issue is a WordPress issue or not, but I’ve been experiencing odd connectivity issues with my site. I already went to my hosting provider, Yahoo, and have attempted support, they’ve not be helpful at all.

Basically, there are times that my site can load fine, no issues, and then there are many times where it won’t load, eventually giving a connection time out. This issue has increased in frequency, to the point that earlier this morning I completely blew away my version of WordPress and installed from scratch. I thought this may be the issue that I didn’t upgrade correctly. I had version 2.8.2 and upgraded to 2.8.6, but I do remember having this connection issue when I was already on 2.8.2.

Earlier today I backed up my blog and then deleted everything, including the WordPress installation I had. I installed a clean WordPress and updated my config’s to point to the correct db. My sites loads extremely fast one minute then a few minutes later if I try to refresh, it will be stuck on “loading” forever, then time out. Yahoo’s excuse was that I have too many images on my site, but all images are links out to Flickr.com, and while I know images can definitely slow down a site, it doesn’t explain why the site will load fast one minute and literally a minute later, if you hit refresh, it times out.

I’m pretty frustrated because I can’t figure out what is causing this issue. I’ve tried from different browsers, computers, and networks and still get the same response from my site. I’ve even tried different templates, even creating a completely separate empty test blog with one post and I get the same connectivity issues.

Any ideas, if possibly there is something I’m missing with this new version?

  • Have you tried deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
