I just installed WordPress with the Minima Plus theme and did not have this problem… so I am deducing that this is a Connection-theme issue.

I tried to edit the default About page (id=2) and could not get it to modify. So I deleted that one and created a new one.

The “About” title shows up, but not the content!

Is this something in the template or an access permission issue? I can edit and add posts just fine, but not static pages.

  • Probably that theme just doesn’t work like you think it should ??
Most themes do NOT display any “about” content.

okay… so explain to me why the same type of page (Contact) doesn’t show any content either?(By the way, there WAS default content/text on the About page when I started).

Is it the persmissions I have set (do not have set) on the proper directories? What directories are affected here?

I have just gone back into the page editor and see that no text is showing up -it’s gone, although the title is still there.

    Thanks.

are you sure you have some post-content for the about page ?

this is hard to believe. can you set it to the minima plus theme and you are able to see the content ?

Okay – I tried installing the Minimaplus template on this site (my previous install was on a different site) and the same stupid thing is happening (so it’s not related to Connection template:

WordPress will not allow me to add or make any text changes but was able to add a post/page and title it, but that’s it. I tried to edit the ‘welcome’ post text and it completely ignored my changes.

Note: I didn’t monkey with any of the templates, I just installed the template as is came. So there must be appropriate post statements in the code as I downloaded it, right.

So – we are talking permissions setting, right?

probably you do not have sufficient previleges to write into MySQL DB !

Okay – that makes good sense.

But why wouldn’t I have sufficient priviledges to my MySQL database? Where would I adjust that?

The setup with my host went well… I have been able to get in and see that indeed no post content is being stored in the ‘post’ fields, but the content is being written to the database for the ‘title’ field. What’s up with that?

    I am wondering now.
if wordpress is successfully installed, it would have created a hello world post and an about page, without a problem.

so you might have the required permissions already.

may be your browser is the problem ? did you try a different browser ?

    Okay – resolution…

The FTP connection was dropped on install and files must have been ultimately corrupted somewhere along the line.

So yes, it was a lousy install.

Everything was reinstalled and it’s rock solid/
