Connection reset when importing 250K XML from WordPress.com

  • What did I do:
    1. Set up a new wordpress blog on my own server
    2. Choose the same theme as my existing blog teilzeitpazifist.wordpress.com
    3. export all from wordpress.com blog (justt 22 posts, 250KB file)
    4. Import this file in the new blog fails immediately.
    4.1. I also tried gzipped XML (56K): failed.
    4.2. Also tried WP Importer advanced plugin: failed.
    4.3. I tried the above options with (define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64MB’);): failed.
    4.4. I tried to import an export file with just 2 posts from the wordpress.com blog: failed.

    It’s always and immediately the same error message:
    “Fehler: Verbindung unterbrochen
    Die Verbindung zum Server wurde zurückgesetzt, w?hrend die Seite geladen wurde.” (Error: Connection reset. The connection to the the server was reset while loading the page.)

    Fun fact: I also tried to import the blog entries from my older blogger account (260K). That worked perfect.

    Have you any ideas how to solve the problem?
