• Hi. I have a godaddy virtual dedicated server, and I can’t connect to FTP to allow for automatic upgrades/plugin installation. I believe the problem lies in the Hostname because I can successfully login to FTP using an FTP client. If I use the same information, I get the following error: Error: There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct.

Anyone know what hostname I need to use? I’ve tried localhost and localhost:21 as well as my ftp site name with :21 tacked on the end.

    Thanks

There are two options. The first, is to use the full domain name as the host that you’re connecting to. The second option is to update the user/group ownership of the plugins directory to Apache. If you decide to use the second option you won’t be able to access the content in the plugins directory via FTP.

I tried using https://www.yellowpuffin.com (the domain I’m troubleshooting this with) in the hostname and it did not work.

Do you have any idea as to why it might not be working? Thanks
