• I have setup a wordpress site and installed wordpress fine using an old version of WP I had on my desktop. Using Dreamweaver as my FTP program I uploaded all the files required and everything worked fine.

When I logged into my wordpress account I was given the option to upgrade to the new wordpress 3.3.1 and when I try and auto upgrade I am asked for my FTP details “To perform the requested action, WordPress needs to access your web server. Please enter your FTP credentials to proceed. If you do not remember your credentials, you should contact your web host.”

I enter my details as I did in Dreamweaver and click Proceed.

I then get a message saying: “Error: There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct.” Im not sure why this is happening as I know the FTP details are correct.

Ive looked online and found a few answers but I dont understand what they are suggesting, if anyone can help it would be great appreciated.

    Thanks
    Nick

  • I would contact your hosting provider and request that they send you your ftp info. DW might do things differently and thus the connection info you are using is wrong.

    Thanks for your reply Christine.

I got my FTP info from my hosting provider and I know it works as I uploaded all the files just before trying to update.

Suppose I can ask them to take a look at the problem but any other suggestions would be great.
