    Hi there,

I created a topic earlier on, I’m not too sure if I’ve perhaps created the post in the wrong category as it suddenly was deleted.

I am experiencing a connection issue at the moment with my JetPack installation. When trying to click “Setup Jetpack” i am receiving a Curl Error (With the error code being Error 52)

I’ve checked the logs and I can see there is a 403 error when the site tries to connect through to wordpress.com (via the JetPack API)

I’ve tried disabling my firewall system, installing a fresh version of WordPress without operating any plugins and using the default WordPress theme.

I’ve also tried running my website on the latest version of PHP (8.1)

I’ve checked for any issues regarding my SSL certificate. Finally, I’ve tried whitelisting the JetPack IP addresses which are found within the documentation.

Any pointers or assistance would be greatly appreciated with getting my site connected again.

    Thank you!

  • Hi @jarjar95,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

Since you didn’t share your site URL, I can only share generic info. The “curl error 52 empty reply from server” error is usually caused by the server not sending any response or not sending a complete response to a request made by Jetpack.

This could be due to various reasons, such as the server being down or experiencing a temporary outage, a network connectivity issue, a problem with the server’s configuration, and so on.

As a first step, check if the server is up and accessible. You can do this by trying to load up your site or ping the server.

You can also check if the server’s configuration is correct. This could include verifying that the server’s firewall is not blocking the request, that the server’s SSL/TLS certificate is valid, and that the correct ports are open and accessible.

You mention already doing some of this, so I would highly recommend getting in touch your hosting provider about the issue.
