• I have a wordpress installation that was on a development server that I now need to migrate to the live server. The server that is going on is on NetCarrier. They tell me that there is no control panel. I assume there is a way that I can connect to the DB with the information they have given me, and I would be able to import the database from the previous installation.

Can anyone explain how I should go about doing this? Recommend an application?

  • I would first find out for sure if there is or is not a control panel, and if not, what IS available. If your access is limited to command line and FTP, and you’re not comfortable with that, then you might want to go with another host.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly possible to manage a site via command line only… in fact, that’s how I manage several of my own sites. But it does have a learning curve.
