Just downloaded wordfence to work on my wordpress website and on the diagnostic tab I get this error: wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: cURL error 7. I have seen on other blogs talking about just enabling ipv4 and I did but that hasn’t worked out. Also, I have seen the reference to cloudlfare but I don’t know if the site has a cloudflare account. Please, advice on the matter as I don’t know how to fix so I can allow the scan go through.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @mary04, thanks for your message.

The Cloudflare reference around IPv6 tends to be that Cloudflare will assign an IPv6 address to a site, but hosts mostly don’t assign them, so an error is normal to see there. Even if you don’t have Cloudflare on your hosting, just having a successful IPv4 connection on your site’s Diagnostics page is enough. Your host should be able to assist if you’re still not sure whether something is installed on your server or how to use it.

I looked at your site and it seems to be compromized as there’s a redirect to a site asking for permission to send notifications to the browser, then ends up at the w-news.biz domain. If you installed Wordfence to assist with this, I can provide some helpful links and information below.

We always recommend updating the passwords for your hosting control panel, FTP, WordPress admin users, and database no matter where you think the threat may have originally come from.

Our site cleaning instructions are here: https://www.wordfence.com/docs/how-to-clean-a-hacked-wordpress-site-using-wordfence/

We always recommend using complex unique passwords along with 2FA for your administrative accounts, and when you find any suspicious files that Wordfence may not have seen, you can send them to samples @ wordfence . com. For security reasons, just remember to remove any passwords or keys/salts from any files you do send us.

Additionally you might find the WordPress Malware Removal section in our free Learning Center helpful.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.
