I’ve been trying to set up Analytics with Site Kit for several days now.. But when I do, it just hangs forever on the progress bar animation. It asks for all of my property info, and my permissions, no problem.. but then it appears to be “thinking” forever after that… trying to connect.

Every other service is able to connect to site kit without issue (tag manager, etc.) I’ve read all the posts in the msg board that seem similar to my issue and what they suggest to do.. I’ve tried resetting site kit, removing the analytics plugin and re-adding it, clearing cache, removing the whole site kit plugin and re adding it.. and I’ve even tried using Health Check and Troubleshooting in incognito mode on Chrome browser to try connecting in troubleshooting mode with no other plugins active. The only thing I can say I sort of learned from that was that I cant disable site kit from troubleshooting mode. When I try it says there was an error that prevented site kit from disabling. When I click disable anyway, it says that it force disabled it, yet its still running. I don’t know how that’s useful, but perhaps a dev will. I get no console errors that I can detect in any of the processes I’ve mentioned here.

Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hi @eblitz,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear of the experience you’ve been encountering setting up the plugin. As you’ve already attempted Site Kit set up using an incognito session and also using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin plugin let’s perform some checks that may indicate any local or hosting related blocks.

In order to do so, can you inform me of the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. If you attempt set up from another device does the same occur? Even from a smartphone phone should you not have another computer.

If the same occurs from another device I may ask you to attempt Site Kit set up, including Analytics, from a disposable WordPress site, such as this one.

    Thanks for your response.
1.) I sent you my site health information via the private form just a minute ago.
2.) I tried from another computer and the same thing happened.
3.) I tried setting up analytics on whatever disposable WP account you linked to.. It seemed to work, but as soon as the page was about to move past the progress bar screen that I’ve been stuck on -> the browser crashed.. and since it was a disposable wp site, when I hit back it created a new site.

Lets just say that it worked on the disposable site, for the sake of troubleshooting. Does that mean my host is causing the problem? and if yes, is there something we can do about it? or just switch..? Thanks

Hi @eblitz thanks a lot for sharing all the information that was requested by James. As you were able to set up Analytics on the disposable site this does sound like it is related to your host. We are limited in how we can help with hosting related conflicts but you could first try following the steps here which helped resolve an issue with another user who was using the same host as yourself.

If the steps above don’t seem to help and it’s not related to a Firewall rule then I would suggest reaching out to your hosting provider to see if they can run some checks to see why this may be happening.

Let us know how you get on with this.
