connecting a wp site to an app

Hello,
I’m interested in connecting my wordpress site to an app.
The point is, that the app will not be exactly the same as the site.
Is it possible to create an app based on my wordpress site (including users’ profiles), but not only? like an expanded verion of the site?
And if so, does it make the app a lot harder to build?
