    Hi Sybre,

I noticed that you will not support “SameAs” structured data option with this notification: These settings are marked for removal. When you clear a field, it will be hidden forever.

I am not for sure, but I agree with you that knowledge panel may not use SameAs property to determine what to show on social profiles, because knowledge panel requires a lot of “authority” resources proof for your brand.

But for google my business, also known as local business panel, which is similar to knowledge panel but for local businesses. They might still need SameAs property to determine your social profiles.

So I wish you to keep this option as it still has its values and also I am requesting you add a Linkedin SameAs feature as well in next update. Facebook and Twitter is not enough.

I think it is doable and this option will not affect how the plugin works on other SEO stuff. Just adding some simple structured data on certain pages. More importantly, there is no resources from google that structured data is useless, at least for google my business, and there are still evidence that believes structured data is a key factor.

    what do you say?

    Hello!

Google My Business is not part of the Structured Data stuff we’re working with.

LinkedIn, and all other social profile links Google used to support, are still inside the plugin. The fields hide themselves the moment you empty them.

I don’t recommend you bypass this limitation because it’s futile: I will completely remove this structured data type in a future update. I simply can’t afford to spend time maintaining something that’s no longer proven useful. Every 1 hour I spend developing something, a thousand more will haunt me in maintenance and support.

Here’s the reason it’s removed, from Google:

Social profile markup for Google knowledge panels is deprecated. We now automatically discover social profiles to include in Google knowledge panels. If you’re verified as an official representative, you can suggest a change directly.

First, this means the structured data entry is useless: “We now automatically discover social profiles to include in Google knowledge panels.”

Then, this means that they want you to use Google My Business to fill in the data: “If you’re verified as an official representative, you can suggest a change directly.”

I hope this makes sense ?? Cheers!

    Hi Sybre,

I agree with what you said!
The endless pain in maintenance is not worth it when it’s proven not useful.

Though I have a different thought on Google My Business, but it doesn’t matter. For Google knowledge panels, I fully agree that it doesn’t rely on schema markups.

    Cheers!
