Connect multiple domains to one WP website

    I am not sure why I am having such a hard time with this, but I can’t find an answer anywhere. I have been building websites for years and it is very a common practice to have multiple domains for a single site. For instance, my current WP website is thejungleexplorer.com. I have also purchased the domain names, thejungleexplorer.net and thejungleexplorer.us. But I can find no way to point these other domain names to the same directory as thejungleexplorer.com.

    My site and domains are hosted with 1and1.com and my WP site is a managed WP site. And before you ask, Yes, I have called 1and1 about this several time and they cannot do it and they told me it is WordPress issue. Now, I have also looked at some WP plugins that are supposed to offer the ability to point multiple domains to a single site, but these are nothing but “Redirects” and not true domain mapping. Google does not like redirect URLs. Not sure why, but it may have something to do with Phishing sites.

    I have several other sites hosted with 1and1 that are not WP sites. I can easily go in and change the directory settings for each domain and map it to the directory where I want it to go. But I cannot do this for the WP site, because it shows up nowhere in my 1and1 directory system. It is like it is not even hosted on 1and1.

    Now, I have no idea how this whole WP system works, so I cannot comment on what it should or should not do. All I know is this. About every website out there has multiple domains mapped to it and I have a hard time believing that the WP developers would have overlooked such a basic and common essential of website building. WP claims that 30% of all websites on the internet are built with WP. I have hard time believing that if they have no included such a basic essential feature into their design.

    I hope there is a simple answer that solves my problem here, but I have look for weeks for it and cannot find it. I am frustrated to say the least.

    One WordPress site does not respond well to running as different domains as the domain information exists in multiple places in the database. Set up your other domains to forward to the canonical domain.

    So what you are saying is that the WP developers overlooked this basic feature of web development and therefore there is no direct easy way to do this. It’s okay. I just need know. It’s just one more thing that is telling me that WP may not be the website design program that is is touted as being. I am getting real tired of running into developer engineered roadblocks every time I try to something that used to be so simple. I have been working on my website for months now and I still can’t get Google to properly index it due to developer issues.

    Why is WP so inefficient and overly complicated if it the number one web development platform in the world, as they claim? Or is that all hype?

    You seem to be trying to put words and an attitude into my mouth. I understand you’re angry / sad / disappointed. Give that work-around a try.
