I am trying to connect Google Analytics to Site Kit, but after clicking “Connect Service” the screen just enters an infinite loading state. I also tried to reset everything but still the same problem.

What possibly could go wrong here?

  • Hello @leonoko ,

Thanks for opening a support topic.

By inspecting your site it seems you have enabled construction/maintenance mode. Can you please disable the maintenance mode & setup Site Kit again as Site Kit required full access to the WordPress resources?

Let us know if you are still struggling to setup Site Kit.

    Hello @abdullahramzan,

ich removed the coming soon mode and I also reinstalled the plugin but still i am not able to connect to Analytics. I am having admin rights in Google Analytics so that shouldn’t be the problem … any other suggestions?

    Best regards!

at the moment my address is https://aivyapp.wpcomstaging.com/ but when after my webpage setup is completet, I will map my domain aivy.app with this wordpress installation.

Right now on aivy.app my old website is running, which is connected to my google analytics account. could it be that site kit is searching for a domain in my google analytics that fits https://aivyapp.wpcomstaging.com/?

    Best regards!

    Hello @leonoko ,

From inspecting your site I can see the “Coming soon” plugin or feature remains present. This may not be the case for you as a logged in user, although your site will have to be publicly available during the Site Kit setup process.

If you want to let me know after it’s fully deactivated I can check your site once more. Alternatively you can simply attempt Site Kit setup while this plugin is temporarily deactivated.

Ok, thanks a lot it should be public now! But still I get the infinite loader .. as described above I still did not map the actual domain (aivy.app) to the wordpress installation. so https://aivyapp.wpcomstaging.com/ is not connected to any google analytics id in my google account, could that be the mistake?

Thanks for the update. You can certainly use Site Kit on a subdomain without issue, using the full domain you referenced. Be aware that before migrating to your main top level domain (aivy.app) you’ll need to reset Site Kit, with the plugin registering the actual domain used during setup on the Site Kit service. For that reason if you’re not planning on using the aivyapp.wpcomstaging.com publicly you may prefer to setup Site Kit once your site is fully live and on your top level domain.

If you do want to go ahead and setup Site Kit on aivyapp.wpcomstaging.com now that this subdomain is fully accessible please attempt the steps below, which would rule out any plugins, browser extensions or theme issues impacting your site setup:

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

Let us know how you get on after attempting the above.

@leonoko As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!
