• Hi, I am almost finished with updating the content of a 140+ page site. The site crashes in IE8 with an XP operating system. I have read posts about IE8, etc., but I think it is something in the code that has gone amiss. There were several folks working on entering content. I contacted the hosting company, and they sent me the error log. It references ‘Premature end of script headers: index.php.”

    I saw one post stating it might be the Word content was copied into the code, which may be the case. How do I go through and check the pages to see if that is the case? There are so many pages.

    Also, when I go into the code, I see on the left side something that looks as if there is partial letter. I checked another WordPress site that I have and that little mark is not present. I think that may be indicating the problem. How do I troubleshoot that?

    The site is https://www.highbridge.org. Two pages were being accessed yesterday, Elementary School and the Economic Development Committee pages, but I think the site itself has an error in the code. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? The site works in Firefox and Chrome. Thanks for any help!

    Hi, As a follow-up to the above, it appears that the partial letter on the left-hand side is Zemanta enabled, so disregard that portion of the above post. I don’t believe that has anything to do with the problem I am experiencing.

    You can contact your theme’s vendors regarding this.

    Hi Andrew, Thanks for the lead to resolve this. I inherited the theme and am going to change it over to a StudioPress theme as soon as I am able to. I will investigate the theme and who did it, but I’m thinking that the problem is a result of something we did in the content or something else, because the IE8 crash just began to happen – in the last week or so. So, I’d like to see if there are any ways to troubleshoot it. In the meantime, I’ll investigate the lead with the theme. Thank you.

    Hi, I checked the theme website (Progression Studios, Galaxy theme), and they do not typically help with RTL issues. So, I’m still working this one… Thanks!

    We don’t support commercial themes neither, so I don’t know what we can do for you here.

    Really? Wow! My team and I have been working on the website since August. It has been working up until the last week or so on all browsers. I was looking for guidance on how to go about troubleshooting the problem since I am new to the WordPress arena. While the suggestion to try the theme author was a great one, I do think it was something that was done in the last week. I was hoping to get some guidance on how to move through the process of troubleshooting… Is there any WordPress validation software that I can run or identify where the problem might be or anything like that?

    Here are some guidelines for validating a WordPress website;

    What we generally recommend is to check whether the problem persists on the theme’s original website. If it doesn’t, try deactivating plugins to explore whether any could be responsible. If none are, try running the problematic webpages through W3C’s Validator and resolve any errors.

    Okay – this may be a ‘stupid thing’ to write about, but here it is. What happens when you disable the plugins? Obviously there are things that do not work, correct? I know you just temporarily disable them, but… I’m just used to having a copy locally that I work on and then upload when it’s good to go. I feel a little uncomfortable with the disabling… But I guess I will have to do that… Thanks for the additional troubleshooting ideas. I will continue to work on it.

    I’m going to wait for someone absolutely sure to answer this.
