    thanks, I tried again and things work great.

    this is the bit in the tutorial that knocked me off the correct way to do things
    “If the plugin is a wordpress page or post…”
    “If the plugin is not a wordpress page or post then you’ll need to use a plugin filter…”

    didn’t quite understand what that means… but all good now
