Confusing data creates weird e-mails and statistics reports after migration

I’m not sure how to explain this, but I’ll try because we need to figure it out before continuing with installations on multiple WordPress instances.
We are a non-profit with (fortunately) some highly experienced volunteer tech folks who help with our domain management.
We use Amazon SES as our sending service for MailPoet3 e-mails and newsletters.
We have a testing site for WordPress, where MailPoet3 (free) already existed. I went in and changed the settings file to have markers for specific configuring (such as the sender name). Then I created a newsletter, a Welcome e-mail, and a Post Notifications e-mail that had the same markers that needed to be configured for specific MailPoet installations.
One of our technicians did an SQL dump of the test site’s MailPoet tables, then imported them into another site’s database.
I installed the MailPoet3 plugin and activated it, so all I had to do was configure the settings and the three e-mails to have the new site’s information and links on a button in the body.
When I look at the settings and the three e-mails after I’ve configured them, everything looks perfect.
However…
Some of the sender names have the placeholder/marker, even though that is NOT in the configuration for the settings or in the individual e-mail activations.
Worse, when the nightly statistics reports come to me, they have the correct sender’s name for the MailPoet implementation, but the data in the middle of the screen tells me it’s coming from the testing site or from a site that has the placeholder/marker names.
Where does the statistics e-mail pull its data from?
I did an SQL dump of one of the sites that we used this procedure on. In it, I found the three correct e-mail configurations, as well as the correct settings. BUT I also found the version of the e-mails that were there when the tables were imported.
When I made all the configuration changes, did the old e-mails stay in a table somewhere for some reason?
I need to figure out how to fix this without having to manually recreate 20+ MailPoet3 installations and reimport the subscriber lists.
And — worse — freaking out nearly 1,000 subscribers who would get ANOTHER newsletter explaining that they’d been subscribed to the site’s list.
I don’t want to post a bunch of screen captures or text files here because of potential for hacking as a result.
I’ve also sent the KB link for migrating sites to our techs.
I guess what I’m wondering is how I can fix the problems with 20+ sites easily, and what we need to do about the data in our testing site’s MailPoet installation in case that is causing the problem when we import tables to another database.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
