Confused with taxonomy settings

Hi,

What i’m trying to achieve is the following: Display all child categories as checkboxex, but I dont want to display the parent category.
All I can see is that the only way to get them to display is to get people to click first on the parent category.
This has to be checked first:https://prntscr.com/jr48gi, which makes no sense at all
Then only I can click this:https://prntscr.com/jr49o7
How can I get the plugin to automatically show me the childs, but not the parent?
