    Hello,

I need to set up a membership level that renews automatically on a monthly basis without interruption. I’ve reviewed the available options, including No Expiry and Expire After Given Number of Month(s),” but these don’t meet my requirements. What I’m looking for is a “recurring payment” option that ensures the user’s subscription continues to renew automatically each month without stopping at the expiry date unless they cancel it manually. I haven’t been able to find this option, or is it a different term or method in how they interpret it?

    Thanks!

    Hello mbrsolution,

Three questions regarding the subscription management process as outlined in the document you provided:

    1. If you create a level with a 1-year duration, members assigned to that level will have access to the content for 1 year from their join date. After this period, their account will expire, requiring them to renew or upgrade to regain access. Upon renewal, they will receive access for another year, and the cycle continues. Does this imply that renewal is a manual process?
    2. An exception to this rule is when using a “fixed date expiry”. In this case, the expiration date is set to a specific date, and renewing will not automatically extend this fixed expiry date. Does this mean that automatic recurring renewals are not supported in this scenario?
    3. This option can also be used with a subscription payment button. For instance, if you set the membership level duration to 3 months, you can create a subscription button that charges every 3 months. As long as the recurring payment is received within the 3-month period, the membership will be extended for another 3 months. If the subscription is canceled, the membership will be deactivated at the end of the 3-month term. Is this process set-up for automatic recurring renewals without them renewing it manually?

I’m still having difficulty understanding the implications of these points in simple terms. Can you point me directly to the solution rather than options please?

Thank you, mbrsolution. Just to clarify, so the “No Expiry” option mean that payments will automatically recur (continue) after the monthly membership expiring date?

Yes. The member’s account will remain active as long as the subscription is ongoing. If the subscription is cancelled, the associated member account will be deactivated.

    Kind regards.

Thank you for your confirmation. The last bit has caught on me:

“If the subscription is cancelled, the associated member account will be deactivated.

Does this means immediately or until the expiry date?

Does this means?immediately?or?until the expiry date?

If you choose the “No Expiry”?option, that means there is no set date. So that means it will be cancelled immediately because there is no set date.

Thank you, mbrsolution, for the link.

I just wanted to double check myself here. So, am I correct in understanding that there’s no recurring payment feature for the initial one-month period to continue on towards its expiry date once the user cancel it?

Hi, I’d like to clarify that the renewal process for subscriptions is always automatic when using the standard subscription button. If any of our documentation suggests that the process is manual, please let me know so I can review and correct it.

When you create a subscription button, the recurring charges will be processed automatically, and the plugin will handle everything seamlessly.

If you would like members to retain access for their remaining time after canceling a subscription, you can set it up as demonstrated in this example:

    Hello wp.insider,

Thank you so much for your response. It actually open my eyes to some new learnings.

I reviewed the information and have questions regarding the membership duration according to the information below.

Suppose you create a subscription payment button that charges every 30 days. In the membership level configuration, set the subscription duration to 31 days. The extra day acts as a buffer, allowing the payment gateway to process the recurring charge and notify the plugin before the account is deactivated. This setup creates a 31-day cycle, ensuring that the member retains access for 31 days after each recurring charge. If the subscription is canceled, the account will remain active until the end of the current cycle.

Currently, my membership plan charges on a monthly basis. However, since the number of days in some month varies (e.g., 28, 30, and 31 days). My concern is whether this create inconsistencies? Just asking!

I changed the duration from “Expire after 1 Months” to “Expire after 31 Days” according to the above information because I want my members’ subscription to continue towards the expiry date if they cancel it immediately.

Could you please clarify how the “31 Days” duration (including an extra day acts as a buffer) suggested in the above information aligns with months that have 28, 30 and 31 days?

    Please let me know.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,
