• Hi I am using NextGEN Gallery v 2.1.0 & Next GEN Plus v 1.1.3 with the WP theme X v4.0.1 and Cornerstone (Front end page builder) v 1.0.1

The Cornerstone page builder won’t load and the developers’ have come back with the following reply.

“As is the case with NextGEN, there are some conflicts we’re unable to directly resolve because of how the offending plugin is developed. Unfortunately, NextGEN modifies jQuery by loading an external version. This is both against WordPress best practices, and is known to cause many plugin conflicts. To prevent that from happening, their developers provide a constant you can use.

Try adding this to your wp-config.php file:

    define( ‘NGG_FIX_JQUERY’, false );

I have tried the config change but still not resolution.. can you advice a fix please

    Hi scotbaston
Im a newbie with the Nextgen plus / Theme X so go easy. I am unable to get a gallery to load! Tried everything but starting to think that I’m being really really silly and missing something. Cais has said that –
‘Most “page builder” code does not properly handle NextGEN Gallery … the only options in those cases is to use manually entered shortcodes.’

Annoying that theres no pre sales info on this.
That leaves me with shortcode and plunging in at the deepend. So I think I have the shortcode : [ngg_images gallery_ids=”3″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_pro_horizontal_filmstrip” gallery_width=”1200″ gallery_height=”275″

Now I’ve only gone to gallery > Add gallery / images to create this as when clicking Edit page in wordpress instead of edit with cornerstone it warns me that all changes will be overwritten!

Also as far as conflicts the NextGen plugin is working bar not being able to click the add gallery icon, no problems with cornerstone/ Theme X

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    – Cais.

    Very upset.
A plugin should not silently rewrite the source of script.
I spent a couple of hours to figure out the culprit rewriting the jQuery source and fix the problem.

Rather than defining a hidden macro to avoid the rewrite, why not adding a new option in the settings page to assure the version of jQuery.
In addition, not all pages or posts require NextGEN Gallery.
Rewriting of the script source should be limited to those calling the plugin function or shortcode.
In our case, only the front page requires a different version of jQuery for a certain Web service, and it does not use NextGEN Gallery. We use NGG only in the Photo Gallery page.

@kaz-nishimura – Thanks for your feedback … I’m sure it would have made a good topic on its own as well.
