Conflict with WPML causes home page loop

Just writing to report an ongoing issue.
A year ago this topic was posted to the WPML forum about a conflict with the redirection plugin: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/problem-with-redirection-plugin/
Although the topic was marked closed, there was a pledge to speak with the redirection plugin author to resolve the matter and make it compatible. I hope you folks are still working on it, but it’s not working for me. The source (German) home page works just fine but the translated (English) home page times out from a loop. (I.e., it flickers as if it is trying to resolve itself then fails.)
This is only true when WPML is set to language sub directories (/en) rather than /?lang=en
I’ve used the redirection plugin on a number of sites without conflict; same too with WPML. But never together. WPML won the round — I dropped Redirection for SEO Redirection and its working as expected.
