Hello, I’m experiencing some conflicts with the yoast SEO plugin and my wordpress website. I have problems viewing the linked page from the frontend and also I can’t access the Pages section from the backend.
I’ve already contacted the support center of my WordPress Theme (Solene – Elated Themes) and they made me do a conflict test by deactivating all the plugins and reactivate them one by one so I’m sure that the Yoast SEO plugin is the one causing the issue. I’ve also updated the theme and all the bundled plugins but the problem persists. The assistance suggested me to contact the plugin support. Is there any way you can help me to solve this problem?

    Thank you,
    Giorgia

  • Hi @gminghetti,

Thank you for reaching out here!

I understand you are having some trouble with Yoast SEO and the theme of your choice, which is Solene.

We’re not familiar with Solene, as this is a premium theme not available here on www.remarpro.com. However, if the issue(s) are only occurring with that theme, and not with a default theme, then we’d need more information on the actual error to see if the actual error is occurring in code in our plugin, or with any theme code.

We typically also ask for a conflict check with the steps mentioned here: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/. If the issue only occurs with the Solene, then please ask your theme developer to pin-point the error(s) that happen and then they can create a bug report for our development team if the culprit in our code rather than in the specific theme.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Jeroen,
    Thank you for your help.
I did another conflict check with the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and actually the problems with Yoast SEO persists even in the debug mode. So I guess the problem is not due to a conflict with Solene theme but is actually a bug in the plugin code.
What should we do now? If you want to check i can also provide you with login credentials to my website.

    Let me know,
    Giorgia

    Hey @gminghetti,

    Thank you for your reply.

With which combination? In debug mode with Yoast SEO being the only active plugin along with the required plugins and your theme? Does the same issue appear with a default theme like Twenty Twenty and Yoast SEO only?

If the issue occurs in both scenarios, there might be an issue specific to your site, and then the next step would be to verify if your site meets the plugin requirements and then to check if there are any Javascript errors occurring: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console/

With more information on the actual error, we can try to find the culprit here. Sharing login credentials here is not allowed and a good idea, as this is a public forum. If we really need to dive into the issue and need access to your site, the only way is with an upgrade to Yoast SEO Premium, which gives you personal support over e-mail, see: https://yoast.com/help/support/#premium

Yes I confirm that the issue occurs with Solene theme but also with the downgrade to a Twenty Twenty theme (in both scenarios i kept only the Yoast SEO plugin acivated).
I’ve tried to search for javascript errors with Chrome Devtools and i get this messages when I analyze the page:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)

    Audit usage of navigator.userAgent, navigator.appVersion, and navigator.platform
A page or script is accessing at least one of navigator.userAgent, navigator.appVersion, and navigator.platform. Starting in Chrome 101, the amount of information available in the User Agent string will be reduced.
To fix this issue, replace the usage of navigator.userAgent, navigator.appVersion, and navigator.platform with feature detection, progressive enhancement, or migrate to navigator.userAgentData.
Note that for performance reasons, only the first access to one of the properties is shown.

I don’t know if this could be useful but I don’t know what this message means.

    Hi,

That error doesn’t indicate an issue with the Yoast SEO plugin files or functions, but something on the server-side since it is a 500 internal server error.

We recommend that you try a fresh instance or staging site with a default WP theme (TwentyTwenty) and only the Yoast SEO plugin (v18.5) and see if you are still able to replicate this issue. If you aren’t able to replicate the issue on a fresh staging site, it’s likely something else on your setup or configuration on your live site.
