Conflict with Perfmatters

I’ve recently installed the optimization plugin Perfmatters. This has broken Popular Posts. If you look at the link under the heading ‘Trending Articles’ you can see where Popular Posts should be loading. I’ve tried changing a range of settings in Perfmatters but have not been able to get Popular Posts to work. However is I disable Perfmatters it does work again.
Permatters is important for the site and I hope to retain both plugins. Do you know of anything that might account for why there is a conflict?
I have also reached out to Perfmatters support to see if they can help.

Unfortunately Perfmatters is a paid plugin so there’s no way for me to try it out and help you debug it (I don’t usually buy stuff just to test it, I don’t have that kind of money haha).
Had a look at your site and noticed that the plugin cannot communicate with the REST API which is why your Trending articles section isn’t loading.
WordPress Popular Posts needs access to the REST API to work (there are even a couple of (somewhat related) FAQs about this on the Wiki, see Is WordPress Popular Posts compatible with security/firewall plugins? and WordPress Popular Posts is not tracking visits, what’s going on?)
After a quick Google search I found that Perfmatters provides an option to disable the REST API. If you enabled this option (or does it come enabled by default?) WordPress Popular Posts won’t be able to do its job.
