Conflict with json pagination in pages

Hi, I want to create a custom pagination with some json data that I’m pulling from an API service. I’m using twentysixteen theme. I need to create a pagination because I have a lot of records to display in pages, however the pagination of the json data uses an url like &page=2 which I think create a conflict with WordPress default pagination and I have 404 error in all the pages except the first page. What should I do? I can’t change the url of the Api service I’m forced to use &page= to access data paginated.
