Currently, with all plugins disabled except for Widget Options and Jetpack both enabled, when clicking the + icon in the Gutenberg editor, brings you to a page that says: “The editor has encountered an unexpected error.”

With Jetpack disabled, the error goes away. With Jetpack enabled and Widget Options disabled, the error goes away. With both Jetpack and Widget Options enabled, the error is there, and I am unable to add any content.

In the console, when clicking the + icon to add a block, the following gets printed to the console:

    Error: Problem parsing d=”M37 31.908c0 1.376.893 2.268 2.27 2.268H45.9c3.956 0 7.192-1.337 9.392-3.68H37v1.412zM45.901 9H39.27C37.893 9 37 9.893 37 11.269v1.411h18.294C53.093 10.338 49.857 9 45.9 9zm5.787 16.176c0 1.113.726 1.835 1.845 1.835h3.973c.45-1.117.753-2.345.894-3.671h-4.867c-1.119 0-1.845.722-1.845 1.836zm-5.507-7.166c0 1.113.725 1.836 1.844 1.836H58.4a13.644 13.644 0 00-.894-3.672h-9.481c-1.119 0-1.844.723-1.844 1.836zm1.843 7.166c0-1.114-.726-1.836-1.845-1.836H37v3.671h9.18c1.118 0 1.843-.722 1.843-1.835zm-5.508-7.166c0-1.113-.726-1.836-1.844-1.836H37v3.672h3.672c1.118 0 1.844-.723 1.844-1.836zM83.667 21.209c.296-1.437″

  • I don’t know if this will help, but have you tried going into JetPack Settings –> Writing and at the bottom under the section Widgets, turn off “Enable widget visibility controls to display widgets only on particular posts or pages”. You don’t want that on as Widget Options does the same thing.

    Hi @tneveu,

That setting is already off. Any other ideas?

Try going into Settings –> Widget Options and look for “Gutenberg Page & Post Block Options” and click Enable if it’s not already turned on. I don’t use a Gutenberg theme so it’s not something I can duplicate. I’m sure the folks from this company can help you once they respond.

The latest update that was just released today (4.0.5) solved the problem, without adjusting any other settings.
