    Hello,

I am experiencing failure in the Media Library >> Edit Media >> Edit Image (button) functionality in WP 3.9 (the Preview image does not display), and tried disabling all plugins and re-enabling them one by one.

Activating Genesis Prose Extras, and only Genesis Prose Extras, breaks the image crop preview image (gives a broken image icon in place of the editable image).

No other plugins are active, and Genesis / Prose is the active theme.

    Looking forward to a solution.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,
    thanks for your feedback!

I just tested a lot of that stuff in 3.9 (even a Multisite install) and cannot reproduce such behavior!

I tested Media > Library –> Editing a single image — cropping, scaling, rotating etc. all works like a charm, also with bigger image files.

Also, I tested inserting media into a post via the Visual Editor and then scaled image in the editor, also edited image with click on it and edited image in the media modal, scaling, cropping, rotating — all worked like a charm!

My plugin does not enqueue any scripts or styles to “Media > Library” in Admin! Also, on post/ page/ CPT edit screens only a meta box is added, and NO additional JavaScript or styles! So, I really doubt that my plugin would cause anything related to media editing?!?

My kind request for you is, to test it again, please, if you could reproduce that on a regular basis?

Noticing a small lagging of image loading for display in the admin could happen, if you are using very large image files. But that is “normal” behavior, depending on your server/ hosting and has nothing to do with my plugin.

    Thanks, Dave ??

I found out where the problem is: My own custom code in the gpex-custom-code.php file. This is why Prose Extras was implicated (Prose Extras adds the Better Custom PHP section to the standard Genesis Custom Code page).

I also did not expect Prose Extras to be the problem with image editing.

Now to figure out which block of code is causing the problem and why.

Sorry for the alarm, and thanks for the quick response.

I had included the PHP close tag (?>) in my gpex-custom-code.php file. This may have been causing other problems as well.

I still don’t understand that convention, but I see that it is indeed a convention. So, PHP noob error.
