    Hello.

I’ve started trying out the new block editor in WordPress 5.0 (have 5.0.2 installed) and it’s come to my attention that the WCK plugin conflicts with the block editor. I have already used Health Check to pinpoint that it is indeed this plugin that is causing the conflict.

Basically what happens is that the plugin causes a WYSIWYG toolbar to show up on paragraph blocks. Please check this screenshot to see what I mean. Unfortunately formatting text using this bar will not be reflected on the published page.

I hope you guys can resolve this issue so that the WYSIWYG toolbar does not appear on the block editor, or give an option to disable the WYSIWYG editor. Thank you.

  • Hello there,

I am having troubles reproducing this issue on my test rig.

With WCK active, I experience no WYSIWYG toolbar on the paragraph block.

    Please do the following test:

Briefly disable WCS. Does this fix the issue?

    Best,
    Gabriel

    Hi. Thanks for replying.

Yes, when I disable the WCK plugin, the WYSIWYG toolbar does not appear on the paragraph block. It only shows up when the plugin is active. I’ve used the Health Check plugin to activate my plugins one by one, and it was the WCK plugin that set it off.

If it helps, I am using a child theme based on Twenty Twelve, and have the following plugins installed:

    Hi there,

Since I can not reproduce out of the box, I am going to need your help if we are to figure this one out.

Please do the following conflict test:

*Briefly* disable all other plugins and enable the default Twenty Nineteen theme. Does the issue persist or not?

    Regards,

    Thread Starter Mew

    (@gokumew2)

    Hi again.

I used Troubleshooting mode under Health Check to do what you asked.

The WYSIWYG editor does not appear when using the Twenty Nineteen theme with all plugins disabled. It does appear when I enable only the WCK plugin, and again disappears when the plugin is disabled.

    OK then,

Next step, if you wish to continue helping with this, is to install a fresh WordPress in a subdirectory of the installation where you are experiencing the problem, like this installationwiththeproblem.com/freshinstall

Leave all the settings, everything as it is by default, and only install WCK, not touching any settings at all.

Does the WYSIWYG editor still show up on the paragraph block?

    Hi.

I am on DreamHost and created a new temporary installation of WordPress. It came with the Askimet and Hello Dolly plugins so I deleted those. Installed WCK and went to edit the default Hello World post.

Yes, unfortunately the WYSIWYG toolbar does appear. Once again, the toolbar does not appear when the WCK plugin is deactivated.

    Hello,

    This is really amazing.

I can’t see this thing at all.

Perhaps I am not understanding correctly. Please describe step by step what you did to reproduce the problem:

    Installed WordPress 5, installed WCK.
Went to Posts -> Add New.
    Clicked on the Paragraph Block.
And then you just see that WYSIWYG toolbar??

I have just done this, and I see no WYSIWYG toolbar.

    Best,

    Hi.

It looks like the problem only shows up when editing a post. (I just found this out for myself right now.) The WYSIWYG toolbar does not show up when creating a new post.

Here, I’ve created a video for you to see: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1h_3qF9l03Ix_Jwy-DG5NIRbvvgMVswjG

    Thank you.

This is the information that I needed in order to reproduce it.

I am forwarding it to the development team to be fixed.

May you have a happy new year!

Great! I hope you’ll be able to find a solution soon and have the plugin updated. Thanks and hope you have a great new year!

Should I mark this topic as resolved?

To be honest I don’t know about marking it as solved.

You may if you feel so.

    Thread Starter Mew

    (@gokumew2)

OK, I’ll leave it open for now and will mark it as resolved once there’s been an update to the plugin that resolves the issue. Thanks!

All right then, glad to help!
