    Hi Jeff.

I spotted a weird error just now – WP backend, working on the GiveWP plugin, an error message breaks onto screen that seems to come from your plugin? >

Hey @photomaldives, glad to help. I’m not seeing any error on latest WordPress. If you can let me know the steps to repeat the issue on default WP, it would enable me to investigate asap.

Thanks for your quick reply, Jeff Starr (@specialk) ??

I just setup a sandbox, but could not recreate the error.

I then went back to my original site … and could not recreate the error! So maybe it was a temp glitch yesterday, or the overnight WP update somehow fixed the issue (?!)

Sorry for wasting your time. Best wishes.

    Hi Jeff (@specialk) ??

I’ve just seen this error again – an error message breaks into the admin screen of a plugin (not GiveWP this time) – screenshot.

Has anyone else reported this in the meantime?

Thanks @photomaldives, still need the actual steps to repeat the error on default WordPress; otherwise there is not much I can do in this case.

Thanks for your quick reply, Jeff.

I can now recreate this error on a new test site – screenshot – that has default plugins, plus SDC, plus Link Library which prompted this latest error on my live site. (It’s the Global Options page in Link Library that shows the error.)

Failed to initialize plugin: sdc_download ReferenceError: download_counter is not defined

I only have a free TasteWP account, so the WP install will get removed after a few hours > https://quickwish.s3-tastewp.com/

Not sure if Admin would be useful, or you would create your own test site? Or let me know if there’s anything I can help with, on this test site. (Unsure of your timezone; I am GMT+5).

I installed the plugins WP Debugging and Error Log Viewer but the error log files are empty.

I then deactivated all plugins except SDC and Link Library, and the SDC error still shows on the LL global settings page (screenshot).

That’s all great information, thank you @photomaldives. In order to investigate this, I need the basic steps to recreate the issue on default WordPress install. So for example that might look something like this:

    1. Install WP
    2. Install/Activate this plugin
    3. Visit such and such page
    4. Perform some action
    5. Etc., until the issue/error happens

That way, I can follow along, repeat the issue, and try to resolve asap, thank you.

Hey @photomaldives, I followed the steps on default WP and there are no errors. Perhaps something else is involved, maybe another plugin or something happening on the server..?

    (@photomaldives)

Hi Jeff – thanks for your help, as always. ??

As said, I was able to recreate the error on default WP, plus SDC, plus 1 other plugin (LL).

I saw your support ticket over on LL, so I’m guessing that this issue only arises when SDC is installed at the same time as a badly coded plugin? Of which I am using at least 2! (LL and GiveWP).

    (@specialk)

    You are very welcome, @photomaldives.

All I know is that I followed your steps exactly and there were no errors or issues, everything worked normally.

    For this:

“I’m guessing that this issue only arises when SDC is installed at the same time as a badly coded plugin?”

Well I don’t know, I tested with SDC and LL as per your steps and there were no issues at all. So there must be something else that is involved somehow in this particular case, could be something your theme is doing, something on the server, configuration, etc. You would need to do some further testing to find it.

Hey @photomaldives, do you need any further help with this? Let me know if there is anything else that needs tested, etc. Thank you.

Thanks Jeff. I just checked again, and the issue still exists on my production site as above.

Error message breaking onto WP backend =

    Failed to initialize plugin: sdc_download

    console:

Failed to initialize plugin: sdc_download ReferenceError: download_counter is not defined
    at t..t..init (tinymce.js?wp-mce-49110-20201110:14:13)

    at n (tinymce.min.js?ver=49110-20201110:2:96402)

It seems weird that this error would exist on my production site, and that I could also recreate it in a completely different environment on a default TasteWP test site with different settings:

… could be something your theme is doing, something on the server, configuration, etc.

But no worries – I am happy to close this, till someone else pops up with the same issue. Thanks for your patience and perseverence.
