Conflict with ACF (Pro)

  • With Advanced Custom Fields installed the role addition to the menu items appears twice. I turned all plugins off and ACF and Nav Menu Roles on and it appears twice, the radio buttons in the two sets are linked so I guess there’s no functional problem as such

    WP 5.4 FINALLY added the hook I’ve been waiting on for years… wp_nav_menu_item_custom_fields. This is in core now and so there’s no longer a need to filter wp_edit_nav_menu_walker.

    Presumably ACF is still filtering the Walker… which used to be the only way to add the community hook. But since that hook is now in core their Walker is firing the hook twice. ACF needs to update their code to only replace the Walker when WP is lower than 5.4.

    In fact, they had, (and I should have checked before bothering you, sorry!) and the latest version of ACF solved the issue.

    Great, glad they’ve fixed it too! This hook should go a long ways to resolving this kind of compatibility issue that plagued us for so long.
