    So I didn’t have the Confirm Email link enabled and it was then sending out the email with the [comfirm_link] shortcode as regular text in the email. Had to enable confirmation before the email started working when I believe the email should not have been getting sent out.

    Thanks for your info. I’ll be doing a review of the entire plugin’s install process for the upcoming 3.5.0 release. Basically, what you described is the fact that the confirmation link shortcode is in the user registration email by default (in the general email content that the plugin installs). That email content is just a starting point and should be adjusted based on how you choose to configure the plugin. But it does make sense to not include it if the confirm link option is disabled by default.
