• Hello. My blog has been dormant for a while and I’d like to revive it –albeit with a different focus.

It’s been so long since installing it in the first place and I’d like to avoid redundancies while going to a completely clean installation.

To be clear, I’d like a 100% fresh installation. I’m not at all concerned about old posts, users, etc. and I’d prefer to know there’s no “residual” data left behind once I start my new blog (at the same URL & host, mind you).

So here’s my question: If I just clear out my “wp-…” folders and files via FTP, will that do the trick? Probably good to copy my config PHP file and overwrite the fresh new one.

Or should I nuke my database as well? (Would prefer not to have to set that up again).

    Thanks.

You need to clear the database or delete it & create a new one. The old one contains all your posts, pages, comments, config, plugin data etc.

You can just define a new table prefix into your wp-config.php connecting to the existing database, but all the old stuff will still be in there doing nothing but taking up space.
