Configuring Rugby Union Scores/Scoring

  • I am at a loss on how to configure my rugby union club events. I simply want to be able to put in the number of tries by players, and conversions, and have the sports press app give a final score (45-20) for example. I do not want just ‘Win/Lose”

    Is there any way to automatically configure this?I read the scoring template articles and its not really clicking.

    Thanks for reaching out.

    The scoring and event outcomes are two different things.

    The event outcome (win/loss/draw or really anything else you add there, such as 1st, 2nd 3rd for timed events) is used in your league tables, usually as your points criteria.

    The score is used for stats, and it can be used to define the outcome. After all, when the game is 45-20 someone won and someone lost, right? So you can store these two variables, you don’t need to pick just one of them.

    If you are talking about the event edit screen itself, you do need to add both the individual player stats and the team stats. So if you had one player score 20 and another 25, for example, you still need to add 20 (player), 25 (player), 45 (team).

    Thanks for the reply. Admittedly, I am still confused.

    I though with this system I could say that a ‘try’ (rugby score) is worth 5 points – conversion worth 2 and drop goal worth 3.

    Then when I say a player scored a try, or if a team scored “5 tries” it would do that calculation automatically?
