I have two separate web sites, and I’d like to replace them both with new wordpress implementations. My account with inmotion hosting is for, say, myweb.com. I’ve also got another domain name, myotherweb.com. Right now, myweb.com points at index.html in myweb/public_html, and myotherweb.com starts from myweb/public_html/myotherweb.com. I want those to, instead, start from my new wordpress sites.

If I understand correctly, I must have wordpress start from public_html, and configure it in the subdomain mode. Then, I create a second site within the wordpress network, called myotherweb.com. Is that right, or should I make both myweb and myotherweb be new network sites? Once I’ve done so, how should DNS be configured for myotherweb.com? Also, when I link from myotherweb’s home page to other pages within that site, or to media, will the url be myotherweb, or will it show myweb, because that is the “main” wordpress site?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’m not sure I understand the doc properly. Thanks, in advance, for any help with this!

Not entirely but pretty close ?? You must have WP ‘running’ from the root of a domain (so example.com and NOT example.com/folder).

You can use EITHER subdomains or subfolders, and then you would make a second site. Finally you install a plugin for domain mapping and point myotherweb.com to that site.
